About the Community & 55+ Active Adult Living

Connery on Providence is a 55+ active adult rental community in Charlotte, North Carolina. It offers 200 one- and two-bedroom luxury apartments designed for residents who want to live independently in a connected, amenity-rich community. The property is located in the Olde Providence South neighborhood, just minutes from the SouthPark area. 

At least one resident in each apartment must be 55 years of age or older. This is consistent with federal Housing for Older Persons Act (HOPA) guidelines for 55+ communities. Please contact the leasing office for the full age-qualification policy and any documentation requirements. 

Connery on Providence is an active adult 55+ rental community. It is not assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, or a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). Residents live independently in their own apartments and manage their own daily routines, healthcare, and meals. The community provides amenities, social programming, and a maintenance-free lifestyle, but does not offer personal care services, medication management, or on-site medical care. 

Connery is designed for active adults age 55 and older who want to simplify their lifestyle without sacrificing quality. Residents are typically empty-nesters, recent retirees, or active professionals who want to trade home maintenance for amenities, community, and convenience while remaining fully independent. 

Connery on Providence is located at 4520 Shady Stream Way, Charlotte, NC 28226, in the Olde Providence South neighborhood of south Charlotte. 

SouthPark Mall and the surrounding shopping and dining district are approximately 10 minutes away by car. Uptown Charlotte is roughly 20 minutes away. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is approximately 25 to 30 minutes away, depending on traffic. 

Many of our residents found Connery with the help of an adult child. We recommend three steps. First, confirm that an active adult community fits your parent's needs. Connery is designed for adults who live independently and want amenities and community, not for those who need personal care or medical support. Second, schedule a tour together so your parent can experience the community firsthand and meet the team. Third, ask the leasing team to walk through finances, lease terms, and the move-in process. We're happy to coordinate a tour at a time that works for the whole family. 

Because Connery is an independent active adult community, residents who develop a need for personal care, assisted living, or memory care may eventually transition to a community designed for those services. The leasing team can speak with residents and families about lease flexibility if a transition becomes necessary, and can share general information about senior care options in the Charlotte area. 

Apartment Homes, Pricing & Leasing

Rents currently start around the low $2,000s per month for one-bedroom apartments and rise from there based on floor plan, size, and view. Pricing changes based on availability and market conditions. Connery offers traditional residential leases. Standard term length and any short-term options should be confirmed with the leasing office, as availability varies. 

Some utilities and services are typically included with rent at Connery, while others are billed separately to the resident. Please contact the leasing office for the current breakdown of what is included with each lease.

The leasing office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. 

Amenities, Pets, Services & Accessibility

Connery offers approximately 18,600 square feet of indoor amenity space plus extensive outdoor amenities. These include a grand lobby and clubhouse, a library, a demonstration kitchen, a private dining room, a movie theater and event space, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a yoga and wellness studio, a sauna, a jacuzzi, a private courtyard with grilling pavilion, an outdoor living room, a fire pit, and an expansive pool deck with a resort-style swimming pool. 

Connery does not include a meal plan or daily dining service. The community has a demonstration kitchen and private dining room available for resident use, events, and gatherings. Many restaurants are within a short drive in the SouthPark and Arboretum areas. 

Each apartment includes a full in-unit washer and dryer. Housekeeping is not provided as a standard service. Residents who want regular housekeeping typically arrange it independently with a provider of their choice. 

Connery offers a curated calendar of resident events, gatherings, and activities. These range from social mixers and educational programs to fitness, wellness, and cultural events. The current schedule is available on our Events & Gatherings page. 

The community includes a state-of-the-art fitness center and yoga studio for resident use. Specific group classes and any partnerships with wellness providers vary; please contact the leasing office for current offerings. 

Parking is available at the community. Please contact the leasing office for details on parking type, assigned versus unassigned spaces, garage availability, and any associated fees. 

Connery's amenity spaces, including the private dining room and event areas, can host visiting family members. For overnight stays, residents typically host guests in their apartment or recommend nearby hotels in the SouthPark area. 

Yes. Connery is a pet-friendly community. Residents may have a maximum of two pets per apartment, with a combined weight limit of 85 pounds. Both cats and dogs are welcome. 

A non-refundable pet fee of $350 is due before move-in for the first pet, plus a $150 fee for the second pet. Monthly pet rent of $25 per pet also applies. Please call the leasing office for the complete pet policy, including any breed restrictions and required documentation. 

Qualified service animals are welcomed without additional fees or pet rent, in accordance with fair housing law. Documentation may be requested. 

Connery on Providence is located in south Charlotte, an area well served by major healthcare systems. Atrium Health and Novant Health both operate nearby hospitals, urgent care centers, and specialty clinics within a short drive. Many primary care, specialty, and outpatient providers are located in the SouthPark medical corridor. 

No. Connery is an independent active adult community and does not provide medical care, nursing, medication management, or emergency medical response services. Residents manage their own healthcare. In an emergency, residents and staff contact 911. 

The community and apartments are designed with active 55+ residents in mind and include accessibility features common to modern multifamily construction. Specific accessibility features vary by floor plan. Please contact the leasing office to discuss specific needs and tour an apartment that fits.
