As the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, it’s easy to spend more time at home and less time doing the things you enjoy. At Connery on Providence, our 55+ community in South Charlotte, you don’t have to choose between staying cozy and staying active. Many of our favorite spaces are indoors and just down the hall.

Here’s how residents keep their routines going all winter long.

Keep Moving, Whatever the Weather

A cold or rainy morning doesn’t have to mean skipping your workout. Our fully equipped fitness center is open to residents, along with a dedicated yoga room and a spacious flex studio for stretching, classes, or exercising at your own pace.

Fitness classes are part of our regular social calendar too. Working out with neighbors is a great way to stay motivated and make it something you look forward to.

Warm Up and Unwind at the Spa

After a workout, or anytime you need a break, our relaxing spa with steam and sauna rooms is a welcome escape from the chill. It’s a simple way to warm up and recharge without leaving the community.

Spend Time Doing What You Love

Winter is a great season to pick up a new hobby or return to an old favorite. Residents can head to the Creation DIY Studio for creative projects, settle into the community library with a good book, or catch a film in the movie screening lounge.

If you enjoy cooking, our community room with a demonstration kitchen is a fun place to try new recipes and share a meal with neighbors.

Gather Around the Fire

Cooler nights are made for time by the fire. Our outdoor lounge with fireside seating is a favorite spot for residents to bundle up, roast marshmallows, and enjoy good conversation with neighbors. The community pond also has its own fireside overlook, a peaceful place to unwind at the end of the day.

Whether you stop by for a few minutes or stay for the evening, it’s an easy way to enjoy the season and share some fellowship close to home.

Stay Social All Season

Some of the best parts of life at Connery happen when neighbors come together. Our social calendar includes game nights, happy hours, movie nights, and our popular Wine Down Wednesdays, so there’s always a reason to get out of your apartment and catch up with friends.

Residents also have access to free weekly virtual events and exclusive resident offers and perks through AlfredOS. With Resident Experience Coordinators on staff and curated resident experiences throughout the year, there’s plenty to enjoy.

Celebrate the Season Close to Home

November kicks off the holiday season, and Connery’s location on Providence Road makes it easy to enjoy. Find gifts at SouthPark Mall, Phillips Place, or the Specialty Shops of SouthPark. Pick up ingredients for holiday entertaining at Reid’s Fine Foods, Whole Foods, or The Fresh Market. Or plan a night out at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.

When you’re ready to host, our resident clubroom and reservable private dining area give you room to gather with friends and family.

Leave the Winter Upkeep Behind

Winter at a house can mean extra work, from checking on the heating to keeping up with repairs. At Connery, 24-hour emergency maintenance and an attentive management team mean you can spend less time worrying about your home and more time enjoying it.
